Legally Responsible Individuals (LRI) Option Now Available!

DDS is excited to share a new option called Legally Responsible Individual (LRI) for Non-Residential HTS for those who are currently receiving In-Home Supports Waiver services for Children or Adults or Non-Residential Waiver services.

Legally Responsible Individuals are parents or guardians of minor children and spouses of adults.

Beginning February 3, potential LRIs may contact their DDS Case Manager to discuss their interest in becoming a paid Non-Residential HTS for the individual in their care.

Waiver recipients must meet certain criteria to receive services from an LRI. For the LRI to become a Non-Residential HTS, they must meet all the training and background requirements set forth in OK policies, including passing background checks and being fully trained as a Non-Residential HTS.

DDS is committed to making this new process easy to understand and has launched a website detailing the requirements, eligibility criteria, and process for Legally Responsible Individuals and waiver recipients to follow.

Please visit oklahoma.gov/okdhs/services/dds/lri to watch a video outlining the new process, policies, and rules which began February 3, 2025. The website also includes Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), which will be updated regularly with clarifications and/or updates as they are made.

If you encounter any issues, please reach out to TellDDS@okdhs.org.

After reviewing the website and video, please send any additional questions through the DDS feedback form. DDS will review all questions and post clarification to the FAQs on the website.
